About RossI am a songwriter and teacher of Christian theology living in the western suburbs of Melbourne, Australia.I write and play mostly folk music with acoustic guitar, though I’ve written some songs for keyboard. Most of my songs are for congregations or children to sing in worship. As a follower of Jesus I sit loosely to religious structures, but I'm an Australian Baptist influenced by the Anabaptist tradition, the radical discipleship movement and the ecumenical movement. Some of my passions are justice, peacemaking, care for creation and exploring intentional missional community. I’m a member at Westgate Baptist Community. My home-based small group functions as a house church for me, enriching my life with honest working-class faith. At Westgate I am further enriched by a large and growing group of Burmese friends (Karen and Chin), nearly all refugees. I teach mission studies at Whitley College, the Baptist theological college of Victoria, where I'm also the Dean. I’m secretary of the Australian Association for Mission Studies. I have a wonderful family. I’ve been married to Alison since 1973 and have two adult offspring and their partners, a step-granddaughter and a granddaughter. When I am a visiting speaker I'm often asked for a bio or photos, so here they are: Photos for publicity purposes (Right-click to download): ![]() ![]() ![]() |
